Website accessibility audit against WCAG 2.1 AA
We test your home page with axe-core, an open-source accessibility engine, against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules. You get a free report with each issue, where it appears on the page and how to fix it.
Accessibility · WCAG 2.1 AA · EAAWhat we check
Images and icons
Images without alternative text, and links or buttons that contain only an icon, with no name a screen reader can announce.
Forms
Fields without a label, so a screen reader says “edit text” instead of “Email”.
Colour contrast
Text that is too light for its background and hard to read for many people, not only for people with a visual impairment.
Language and structure
The language declared for the page, the page title and headings in a logical order.
Automated technical check, not a legal assessment. Automated tests find only part of the accessibility issues.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA)
In the EU, the European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to some products and services sold to consumers, including online shops. Service providers covered by it must also publish information on how their service meets the accessibility requirements, often as an accessibility statement.
Whether it applies to your business depends on your activity and size: micro-enterprises that provide services are exempt. Our report lists the technical issues, which is useful when you prepare that information. We do not give a legal assessment.
If you want, we fix it
- Alternative text for images, names for buttons and links
- Labels for form fields
- Colours with enough contrast, keeping the look of the website
- Page language, headings and titles
Price for the fixes: offer after the free report.
From a finished job
On the same WordPress website with over 21,000 articles, the Lighthouse mobile accessibility score went from 88 to 100 after our work, without changing how the website looks.
Frequently asked questions
Does an automated test find everything?
No. Automated tests find only part of the issues. Keyboard navigation, the order in which a screen reader reads the page and the quality of the alternative texts need a manual review.
Do I have to comply with the EAA?
It depends on what you sell, to whom, and on the size of your business. Micro-enterprises that provide services are exempt. The report shows what the website does technically; for the legal question, ask a lawyer.
Do you need access to my website?
Not for the report. We need access only if you want us to make the fixes.
